Homeopathy
|
Homeopathy is natural way of dealing with health issues. It is not like the traditional Allopathic type of medicine that we are most familiar with. Homeopathy actually treats the symptoms that a person or animal has rather than covering them up. Traditional medicine would have you taking cough medicine for a cough so that the cough would be suppressed. Where as, in Homeopathy you would consider what type of cough you have i.e. dry, rasping, deep etc. You would also consider when the cough is happening such as during the night or when you are out in the cold. Is the cough worse in cold air or better, etc. All symptoms are considered. A Remedy is chosen that would match your symptoms. The remedy does not treat your problem. What it does is tell your immune system just what is going on and your body and immune system get a kick start and fix the problem. I have been studying Homeopathy for quite a number of years and belong to a study group that meets often to learn more about it. I have seen and had such great results for so many small problems in my life that both my husband and I go the homeopathic route first and foremost. We also, use it with all of our animals. Remedies can be found at most health food stores or can be ordered online. Suggested Books Homeopathy can be confusing for someone just new to the study. The book I most highly recommend for a beginner is "Everybody's Guide to Homeopathic Medicines" by Stephen Cummings,M.D. and Dana Ullman, M.P.H. The first four chapters of this book has a very quick course in what Homeopathy is, how it works and a bit about the history of how it came to be. The rest of the book is set up to help the layperson to self prescribe remedies for specific problems such as headaches, bumps and bruises, cuts and sprains, men's or women's health problems, etc. It is a wealth of information and makes it easy to understand.
